Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie Join Occupy Wall Street Protests

Folk singer Pete Seeger and 1960s musician Arlo Guthrie are participating in the Occupy Wall Street protests, the Associated Press reports. He was joined by his grandson Tao Rodriguez-Seeger, David Amram and Guy Davis. A recent poll suggested that more than a third of the U.S. is in support of the Wall Street protesters and about 58 percent admit that they are not happy with U.S. politics. During a radio interview on Friday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg admitted that because the protesters have no single leader, it has been difficult to negotiate with the group. A spokesperson for the protesters agreed that the group needed to be better neghbors, promising to lessen the noise every night. Seeger and his musician friends, including Guthrie, performed "We Shall Overcome," a protest anthem that Seeger made popular at Columbus Circle. Related Topics
